Year 12 student? This is one week that could change your life.

The BDO Summer School is your chance to look ahead at your career options as you see first-hand the kind of work you could be doing as an Apprentice.

In light of the Covid-19 pandemic we’re all making adjustments to our ways of working. So at this time, we will be hosting our Summer School programme virtually. We are inviting registrations of interest and we’ll keep you updated on when applications will open.

In the meantime, you can find out what our programme is all about. Over the course of one week you will find out what it’s like to work for a professional services firm., get a real taste of our business and culture whilst gaining an insight into our client work and networking with trainees and experienced professionals. If you’re curious about our Apprenticeship Programme and wondering whether to apply for it next year, this will help you make up your mind.

If you do well, you may be offered a place on our Apprenticeship Programme. But, there’s no commitment. Even if you take the placement and then decide BDO isn’t for you, you’ll have gained valuable insights and experience and added new skills to your CV.

How it works

We’ll ask you to choose a UK office as your base location and the business stream you would like to learn more about. Then, on your first day, you’ll receive a virtual introduction to BDO, you’ll meet your fellow students and take part in various group activities.

During the week, you’ll meet with a senior member of the firm. This is to gauge how much you’ve benefited from the Summer School. It’s also a chance to give us your feedback. By now, you should have a clearer idea as to what BDO is like, as well as what to expect if you continue a career with us.

Making your application

You’ll need to choose a UK office that’s within 1.5 hours travelling distance of your home (or somewhere you can arrange your own accommodation). Due to the current pandemic, we are following government guidelines and working from home. However, if you chose to join our Apprenticeship programme, you will spend some of your week working at this office and, if you chose to continue your career with us, this will be your Apprenticeship training location. Apply using our online application form.

Entry requirements

You need to be in Year 12 to be eligible, and you must also meet the following entry requirements:
