Six weeks of valuable work experience to add to your CV.

Aimed at high-calibre undergraduates in their penultimate year, our Summer Internship Programme is a fantastic opportunity to experience life at BDO and add valuable work experience to your CV.

Our Summer Internship will help you decide whether to apply for our Graduate Programme. You’ll get a real taste of our business and culture, working on interesting projects alongside graduate trainees and experienced professionals.

In light of the Covid-19 pandemic we’re all making adjustments to our ways of working. So at this time, we are inviting registrations of interest in our Summer Internship programme, and we’ll keep you updated on how we’ll proceed in line with government guidance and our own assessment. In the meantime, you can find out what our programme is all about.

The programme lasts six weeks and runs from early July to mid-August each year, in offices across the UK.

The programme

Over six weeks, you’ll gain exposure to clients in a range of sectors, meet current graduate trainees and work alongside BDO partners and managers. You’ll receive training and development and also have the opportunity to participate in a live project that makes a real business difference. There are social events and activities, and the chance to build networks for the future. You’ll be assigned a buddy to help you settle in and a counselling manager who will set you objectives and carry out your final review.

All interns spend their first week in a BDO office taking part in technical training and covering basic employability skills. We make sure you have everything you need to work on live client assignments, regardless of your background or previous work experience.

For the next four and a half weeks you’ll work on client assignments with the team and office you have applied to join. We aim to provide interns with jobs that a first-year graduate trainee would do – so you’ll gain an in depth understanding of what BDO do and what a graduate role looks like with us.

In the last two days of your placement you’ll travel to London. This is a team social and group project presentation which you will have worked on during your placement. You’ll also have the chance to discuss your experiences and feed back to the recruitment team.

Around 85% of our interns are offered a place on Graduate Programme, providing they achieve a 2:2 degree or better. Before the internship ends, you have the opportunity of an interview with a partner. If you’ve done well, you’ll receive a job offer within ten days and can go back to university knowing your future is sorted.
